A Hymn for Sunday

Sweet Hour of Prayer
Words by: Willima Walfor 1772-1850
Music by: Willima B. Bradbury 1816-1868

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father's throne
Make all my wants and wishes known;
In seasons of distress and grief
My soul has often found relief,
And Of escaped the tempter's snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Saviour shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petitions bear
To him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless;
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I'll cast on Him my ev'ry care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah's lofty height,
I view my home, and take my flight:
This robe of flesh I'll drop and rise
To seize the everlasting pirze,
And shout, while passing through the air,
Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!

What is something that you have found helpful when it comes to your prayer life?

Something that I have done for a year now is to write my daily prayer in my journal. It's encouraging and exciting to see how the Lord has worked in each request or to see how I've grown since I prayed that. They aren't long, but I write what is on my heart at the moment.
Have a blessed Lord's day!

Dear Ashley,
Thank you for sharing the beautiful hymn and all those beautiful pictures from your garden!

I love your idea of writing your prayers in a journal!!! I need to do that, as I would also love to see how the Lord answered my prayers and how much I have grown since that prayer! Thank you for sharing this!

Have a lovely week!
Blessings,
Paula
