A Hymn for Sunday

Sweetly Resting
Or
In the Rifted Rock
Lyrics by: Mary D. James
Music by: W. Warren Bentley

In the rifted Rock I'm resting,
Safely shelterd I abide;
There no foes nor storms molest me,
While with-in the cleft I hide.

Now I'm resting, sweetly resting,
In the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages,
I will hide muself in Thee.

Long pursued by sin and Satan,
Weary, sad, I longed for rest;
Then I found this heav’nly shelter
Opened in my Savior’s breast.

Now I'm resting, sweetly resting,
In the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages,
I will hide myself in Thee.

Peace which passeth understanding,
Joy the world can never five;
Now in Jesus I am finding;
In His smiles of love I live.

Now I'm resting, sweetly resting,
In the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages,
I will hide myself in Thee.

In the rifted Rock I'll hide me
Till the storms of life are past;
All secure in this blest refuge,
Heeding not the fiercest blast.

Now I'm resting, sweetly resting,
In the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages,
I will hide myself in Thee.

Mrs. Melton~ I had heard this hymn for the first time two Sundays ago while playing it as a "prelude" before church, and was immediently struck with the second verse. So many times it seems as if my flesh is getting the victory and I feel discouraged; I was reminded that the Lord is there to help me overcome, if I will but ask Him.

Sarah~ You are welcome! :o)
