In the Sewing Room

The past several days have found Momma and I in the sewing room sharing the sewing machine, iron, and chairs while listening to "In Freedoms' Cause" by G.A. Henty. It's been delightful!

Momma has been working on several little outfits that she's making for someone and she's just about done with them! She would really like to start on the curtains for the sewing room next but that isn't going to work, as the fabric isn't washed and the washing machine is broken!
I was able to get a skirt cut out and made yesterday which I find amazing as it usually takes me two days to do complete!

Momma just recently moved into her sewing room and yesterday she started the decorating process. Plants will love this room as it receives bright light all day!

Today I started making cooling cloths for a friend. She needs four in the next day or two, so that's what I'm going to be doing tomorrow! The cloths are PERFECT for draping of fresh-from-the-oven breads and are so cute!

I got the material this afternoon and I have most of it cut out already!

There's allot of measuring and "figuring" to do as it has been quite some time since I last made one!
Believe it or not, there was a time when I absolutely positively despised sewing. I haven't quite done a total three-sixty on this subject, but I do find myself enjoying more and more! Especially if I don't make silly mistakes!

And Finally,
We've had our share of wet and cold weather lately, BUT, the daffodils are insistent on springing up! We found last spring that we have several different kinds of Daffodils that bloom all through early spring up until April or May! They are planted all over and we love being surprised at where they come up! The varieties are amazing too!
I can't wait till spring!

Dear Ashley, I found your weblog through your sweet Mom's weblog. I love the sewing room. I am blessed to have a wonderful sewing room, and I would love to paint it pink. Could you let me know what color of paint you used? I am so proud of you for staying home to learn homemaking from your Mom, and be a blessing to your family. The Lord will bless you in so many ways, as I am sure he has already! My son and I love to read G.A. Henty books! We have read In Freedom's Cause, but we have not listened to it. We read Wulf the Saxon and listed to Jim Weiss read it. We are amazed at all the voices he can do! There are so many good Henty books to enjoy. Keep up your sewing, you are doing a great job. I also love your garden and your Mom's garden. I love to garden as well! The Lord Bless you! Mrs. Paula

Mrs. Paula,
Thank You for your sweet comment! Wow! What an encouragement!
The color in the sewing room is rather interesting..... it's right in between two colors and we don't have "name" for the color as we threw the paint bucket out. Momma got the paint from Devoe Paint shop..... it's paint chip 1139 with the color being "tutu". She has written on it "a touch lighter; like chip 1118" (which we don't have a color name for.). I hope this helps!
My brother has several GA Henty books on CD and we love them!! Yes, Jim Weiss is an amzing narrator; even when it comes to the ladies voices! One can't help but be riveted to the stories!
Thank You~Ashley

Dear Ashley, I am so glad I could give you a word of encouragement!
Thank you so much for letting me know the paint chip numbers. I will see if I can find something similar. It is such a pretty pink!
We need to get some more GA Henty books on CD. I agree with you, Jim Weiss is an amazing narrator, even with the ladies voices! Thank you for writing!
The Lord Bless you, Paula

Hi Paula,
You must be a lover of pink also! I can't get enough of it! I found the paint number in the Duron Millennium collection. Any paint store should have them. It is 7430 "Pink Icing" HOWEVER!, it is only about 3/4 the amount of color!
In order to get the chip a little lighter, my paint expert only mixed it with part of the color.
So, my suggestion is to go to the store, (Lowes, Home Depot, Benjamin Moore, whoever,) and have them look that color up in the Duron collection. Match it up with the paint chips they carry as closely as you can, then take it home and see if you like it.
To help you match it, it is in the clear blued section, right between red and purple.
Hope that helps! sharon

Hi Sharon,
Thank you for writing! Indeed, I am a fellow lover of pink, and I know just what you mean, that you can't get enough of it! It is my favorite color, too! My dearest husband is so sweet to let me decorate with lots of pink. It is so cheerful and pleasant. Thank you so much for the paint chip number and name. The next time we go to Home Depot I will look it up, and then my son will have a spring project, to paint my sewing room pink! :) He is a good painter! Have a blessed day! Paula
