Saturday Afternoon

After spending two hours dealing with modem/Internet issues on Saturday my brain was more than ready to take a break. It was time to get outside! Exploring Bull Run has been on my mind lately so I decided to head over and see what all was going on!

"Let's go!"
I have a hard time saying "no" to the pair of brown eyes that watch me as I drive off, so I loaded Jasper up and off we went.

I soon found Trevor and Sayre picking up and hauling off the brush and limbs that were along the old fence line.

"After the cleanup"
They were working in the area in which we find the old "graves", so I pitched in and helped load up the truck!

Sayre enjoys driving the truck around and Trevor is more than willing to let him! He does a good job of getting the truck right where it needs to be.
I was amazed at the amount of brush there is along the fence line. It just goes to show what happens when you let things get grown up.

Instead of hauling the brush down to the gully, they were making a big pile up at the edge of the field.

Trevor then brought the tractor in and pushed it all into the gully! It saved so much time to do it this way! As I watched Trevor I have to admit that I was a little nervous about him getting so close to the edge. I asked him later if he was nervous about being that close and he said "Yes, I was watching my wheels to make sure I didn't get to close and fall in!"

"Jasper's Cooling System"
The afternoon temperature reached one-hundred degrees but thankfully there was a nice breeze blowing which made it very bearable. When Jasper gets hot he heads for water and proceeds to lay in it. I find this very amusing as he despises bath time!

"Field Cleanup"
Daddy, Trevor, Tristan, and Sayre had spent the morning getting these piles pushed into the gully. They weren't able to get it pushed all the way to the gully, but just far enough so that the field looks even neater!

"Daddy"
Daddy spent most of the afternoon bush-hogging a thicket and it looks great! I was reminded of a park when I saw the end result!!
He did run over a in-the-ground yellow jacket nest and several of us were the victims of their excessive anger!

"Daddy and Trevor"
It's so neat to see the men-folk taking dominion like this! I know that they are very happy doing this type of work and for Daddy, I think it's almost like his way of relaxing.
Momma and I feel very blessed to have men-folk who enjoy working like this!

"From the Hill"
The last thing I did as I was preparing to come back home, was to drive up Trevor's driveway and "survey the view". Do you see that tiny white speck in the middle of the photo? That's a church steeple! Off to the left you can see a little more cleared rolling land (not in the picture). It makes one look forward to fall just thinking about how spectacular the view will be!

"The Road"
I love dirt roads!

Thank you for sharing about your day, Ashley! It looks like it was a wonderful one. :) I enjoyed all the photos! How far is Bull Run from where your family lives? It is a beautiful place!

I, too, love dirt roads! :)

Dear Ashley,

I enjoyed my "visit" to Bull Run. It is such a beautiful piece of property and Trevor's spot will make a beautiful site for the home he is going to build for himself and his future bride. I loved the view from the hill. It will be breathtaking in Autumn. Jasper looks so content in the water! I like his "cooling system."

It is a blessing to have men-folk that enjoy that type of work. They are doing a great job taking dominion.

I love dirt roads, too!

Blessings,
Paula

P.S. Thank you for letting me know the package arrived safely. I am so glad!

Sarah- Bull Run is maybe a two-three minute drive from our house. Very convenient as the tractors can be driven there!

Mrs. Paula- Trevor has quite the plan as far as his house goes! He's building the "garage" first but is going to live in it until ready to build the house. He finally got the Perk test back (to determine if a septic system will work at your site) and has now run into "problems" with getting the permits. Apparently our county is stricter in this area than the county he works and deals with.

Claimthemountain- I do hope I can get some good pictures this fall!! You'll be sure to see them posted here!!
